Mannion swipes ‘Frankie,’ ‘Princesses’

U.K. distrib will release pics in 2007

LONDON — Frank Mannion’s Swipe Films has picked up U.K. rights to “Frankie,” starring Diane Kruger, and the Goya-winning Spanish pic “Princesses.”

“Frankie,” the debut pic of writer-director Fabienne Berthaud, is the story of the ups and downs of a top fashion model. Kruger co-produced the film, and Swipe bought it from sales agent MK2.

Fernando Leon de Aranoa’s “Princesses,” which premiered at Sundance, won three Goyas, Spain’s top film kudos, including best actress for Candela Pena and best newcomer for Micaela Nevarez, playing two friends who happen to be prostitutes. Pic was sold by Sogepaq.

Swipe will release both pics in 2007.
