ASC will announce feature nominees Jan. 9

The American Society of Cinematographers has skedded its awards show for Feb. 18 at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.

Org will announce nominees for feature films released in 2006 on Jan. 9. It will announce TV noms in two categories — regular series and movies, miniseries and pilots — on Jan. 16.

“Our members established this annual celebration in 1986 for the purpose of recognizing and inspiring the pursuit of excellence in the art and craft of cinematography,” said Russ Alsobrook, chairman of the org’s awards committee. “The reality is that artful cinematography is generally designed to be transparent to audiences.”

Dion Beebe won the ASC feature award this year for “Memoirs of a Geisha.”

Org will also host an open house and Internet chat at its Hollywood clubhouse on Feb. 17.
