'Goblet' was highest foreign grosser released in 2005
Warner Bros.’ “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” has become the fifth pic of all time to cross the $600 million mark in international grosses.
“Goblet,” released in November, joins a club headed by “Titanic” with $1.2 billion in offshore box office, followed by “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” at $750 million, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” at $657 million and “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” with $616 million. “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” grossed $545 million overseas.
The fourth Potter pic has grossed $91 million in Japan, $84 million in the United Kingdom, $62 million in Germany, $55 million France, $26 million in Australia, $23 million in Spain and $21 million in Mexico.
“Goblet” was by far the highest foreign grosser released in 2005 with “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” nearing $380 million overseas.
