World Brief

Producer-distrib Kinowelt has taken over Cologne-based Pegasos Filmverleih.

The small arthouse distrib holds rights to 80 films and documentaries, few of which have been released on DVD, offering attractive opportunities in the home entertainment market.

Kinowelt will release titles under its Arthaus label.

Pegasos founders Ernst Szebedits and Karl Baumgartner will continue to work as consultants. Companies declined to offer financial details of the deal.

The takeover follows Kinowelt’s acquisitions of insolvent distrib Intertainment in May and of former Kirch Media shingle Epsilon last year.
