TOKYO — Jupiter VOD and NBC Universal Intl. Television Distribution have inked a multiyear Japanese VOD rights deal covering NBC Universal pics.
Under the terms of the deal, announced Friday, Jupiter VOD acquires rights to everything from upcoming titles to U’s 4,000 library pics.
Recent releases include “King Kong,” “Nanny McPhee,” “Brokeback Mountain,” “The Ice Harvest,” “Two for the Money,” “Serenity” and “Doom.” Library titles include “The Bourne Identity,” “Apollo 13” and “2 Fast 2 Furious.”
Launched in May 2004, Jupiter VOD distributes content to the 19 J:COM cable franchises operated by Jupiter Telecommunications, Japan’s largest broadband and cable provider.
As of Aug. 31, J:COM served a total of 2.2 million subscribing households, of which nearly 1.86 million subscribed to the J:COM TV service.
