It takes three to tango

Salles teams with Stantic, Santaolalla on dance pic

Brazil’s Walter Salles is teaming with Argentine producer Lita Stantic and composer Gustavo Santaolalla to produce “Cafe de los maestros,” a docu feature on tango music’s greatest living masters, some nearly 90 years old.

Pic will be produced by Lita Stantic Producciones in Buenos Aires, Salles’ Brazil-based Videofilmes and a new company that Santaollala is creating in Buenos Aires.

Pic profiles tango singers and musicians, including recognized greats like the 88-year-old Mariano Mores and the 89-year-old Horacio Salgan, plus forgotten artists such as Gabriel “el Chula” Clausi.

“Cafe” will climax with a live performance Aug. 24 in Buenos Aires’ Teatro Colon, shot by nine cameras.
