Homeland fetes helmer Lee

World Brief

“Brokeback Mountain” helmer Ang Lee on Tuesday was given the Order of the Brilliant Star by Taiwan’s President Chen Shui-bian, who called Lee “the light of Taiwan and all Chinese people and the pride of Asia.”

Chen also congratulated the Oscar-winning director on being named one of the world’s top 100 most influential people by Time magazine.

Now a U.S. citizen, Lee earlier re-turned to Tainan, the town of his birth, where Friday was declared “Ang Lee Day.”
