World Brief

Iranian director Majid Majidi has pulled his film “The Willow Tree” from Denmark’s NatFilm Festival in protest at the publication of cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammad in Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten.

Fest organizers said they regretted Majidi’s decision. They have replaced it with another Iranian pic, Fariborz Kamkari’s “The Forbidden Chapter.”

The 17th Natfilm fest started Friday and runs until April 2 in Copenhagen and other cities across Denmark.

Controversy flared up this year when 12 cartoons, originally published in Denmark in September, were re-printed by a number of European publications.
