STOCKHOLM — NonStop Sales has sold distribution rights to Swedish vampire pic “Frostbite” in the U.S., the U.K. and Spain.
Genius and Wellspring picked up U.S. and Canadian rights, Soda Pictures acquired the U.K. and Ireland, and Versus Entertainment took Spain.
Pic was previously licensed to Rebel Prods. for Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines, as well as Pacific Marketing for Thailand.
Helmed by debutant Anders Banke and produced by Magnus Paulsson, pic is about a doctor and her 17-year-old daughter, who move to snowy Lapland. Little town with its long polar nights appears to be just as boring as the teen thought it would be, but slowly it becomes clear the sleepy burg is hiding a dark secret.
“America will have a great time sinking its teeth into Sweden’s first vampire film,” said Rob Williams, acquisitions executive for Genius and Wellspring.
Pic will have its North American preem at the Seattle Film Festival later this month.
