The Hollywood Film Festival has selected Sony Pictures Classics co-presidents Michael Barker and Tom Bernard to receive its Hollywood leadership award and “Running With Scissors” director Ryan Murphy for its Hollywood breakthrough director nod.
Kudos will be presented as part of the fest’s awards ceremony Oct. 23 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Barker and Bernard are co-founders of Sony Pictures Classics, currently marking its 15th anniversary. Films released by the division have received 18 Academy Awards and 73 Oscar nominations.
Murphy’s the creator of FX’s “Nip/Tuck.” In addition to directing, he also produced “Running With Scissors,” which will be released Oct. 22.
His next film will be “Dirty Tricks,” an adaptation of the Off Broadway play about the life of Martha Mitchell. Murphy will write, direct and produce.
