“Eskul,” directed by Nayato Fio Nuala, won the Piala Citra award for best film at the 2006 Indonesian Film Festival, which ended Thursday night.

Nuala also won the director award for the pic, about a high school student who takes a number of fellow students hostage as retribution for their maltreatment of him. Pic also won for editing and sound.

The seven-member jury was headed by actress Rima Melati.

Other winners were the country’s Oscar submission “Berbagi suami” (supporting actor El Manik and art direction); “Denias” (actor Albert Fakdawer and screenplay); “Heart” (actress Nirina Zubir); and “Mendadak Dangdut” (supporting actress Kinaryosih).
