PGA presents producer with prize
The Producers Guild of America has tapped TV awards show producer Ken Ehrlich to receive its 2007 Visionary Award.Nod recognizing producers and/or a TV or film production demonstrating a “unique or uplifting quality” will be presented at the 18th annual PGA Awards Jan. 20 at the Century Plaza in Los Angeles. Previous honorees include “Rescue Me” (2005), “Angels in America” (2004), “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” (2003) and “America: A Tribute to Heroes” (2002). Ehrlich has worked on the Grammys, the Emmys, the Blockbuster Awards, the Alma Awards, the Latin Grammys, the European MTV Awards and the MTV Movie Awards, which he created in 1992. He’s also produced numerous specials for network, cable, syndication and homevideo programming and recently joined AEG Live to develop projects for the company’s live venues as well as for TV. PGA Awards co-chairs Hawk Koch and Mark Gordon said, “Ken’s talent as a producer merging television and music has set the bar for all to follow. His influence in the industry has set a standard for quality that clearly sets him apart as a visionary in our field.”
