Looking to tap the lucrative Latino market, Disney has set John Leguizamo and Wilmer Valderrama to star in family comedy “Something Blue,” which Prospect Pictures will produce in association with the Collective.
Scribe Danielle Sanchez-Wtizel, a writer on “George Lopez,” penned the script for “Something Blue.” She’s also a writer and co-producer of NBC’s “My Name Is Earl.”
Storyline revolves around a father who becomes unhinged when his first-born daughter gets engaged to a young police officer.
Endeavor Independent, led by Graham Taylor, and Traction Media packaged the film and arranged financing with Disney. Prospect, launched two years ago, developed the script.

Leguizamo stars in Edward Burns’ upcoming “The Groomsmen” as well as “Where God Left His Shoes” and “The Babysitters.”
Valderrama (TV’s “That ’70s Show”) stars in Richard Linklater’s upcoming “Fast Food Nation,” as well as two Warner Bros. pics, “Unaccompanied Minors” and “CHiPs.”
Prospect Pictures’ credits include indie pic “Pretty Persuasion,” which Siega directed. Upcoming, it is producing “Barry Munday” and Lionsgate pic “Drive-Thru.”
