BEIJING — A competition to find China’s best emerging documentary filmmakers, called “Real China. Directors Plan,” has selected 20 for the Nov. 19 finals, Web site sohu.com reported.
Judges have whittled down the number of entrants from 300 and the shortlisted candidates will present their documentary proposals to a panel of judges, including helmers Stan Lai, Christine Choy and Zhang Yuan.
Sohu.com said the final eight will be given “abundant funds” for new productions, along with the opportunity to compete in international competitions.
“Real China. Directors Plan” was started in June to provide a platform for local talent and to encourage the development of documentary films in China.
The eight winners will be announced Nov. 23.
