Cooper storms ‘Kingdom’

Thesp to join Foxx in U pic

Chris Cooper has been set to star alongside Jamie Foxx in “The Kingdom,” the Peter Berg-directed drama for Universal Pictures.

Cooper and Foxx play part of an FBI team that goes into a Middle Eastern country to investigate a terrorist bombing in one of the compounds that houses western workers.

Matthew Michael Carnahan penned the script, with Michael Mann and Scott Stuber producing. Mary Parent will exec produce with John Cameron and Sarah Aubrey, who partner with Berg in the U-based production shingle Film 44.

Production begins this spring.

Cooper was last seen in “Syriana” and “Jarhead” and has a role in the upcoming U spy thriller “Breach.”
