‘Conversations’ strike Lightning

Pic is based on Walsch's eponymous book series

Los Angeles-based Lightning has sold “Conversations With God” to Hopscotch for Australia and New Zealand, Quality for Mexico and Fida for Turkey. Additional territories are expected to close soon.

Pic is based on Neale Donald Walsch’s eponymous book series, which sold over 7 million copies. Helmed and produced by Stephen Simon (“Indigo”), pic was scripted by Eric DelaBarre (“Kate’s Addiction”) and stars Henry Czerny, who appears in the remake of “The Pink Panther.”

“Secrets of the Code,” also on Lightning’s slate, has been sold to Universum for German-speaking Europe, Roadshow for Greece, Fida for Turkey and Ster Kinekor for South Africa.

Based on Dan Bernstein’s book, which has sold over 400,000 hardcover copies in the U.S. and more than 1 million internationally, docu explores the controversy unleashed by Dan Brown’s “The Da Vinci Code” and is set to have a market preem at Cannes, timed to catch the tails of Ron Howard’s adaptation.

Also on Lightning’s sales slate is “Parzania: Heaven & Hell on Earth,” which it picked up for world sales outside India on Friday. Circles Motion Pictures’ drama, helmed by Rahul Dholakia and starring Corin Nemec and Naseeruddin Shah, is set against the backdrop of religious strife in India.
