Comstock changes name to Cubical

Distrib Comstock has changed its name to Cubical Entertainment to commemorate its 25th anniversary and “make a fresh new start,” according to a statement.

Cubical plans to keep its present organization and honor all its agreements with foreign partners.

Company distributes an eclectic mix of Japanese and foreign films, with an emphasis on Asian pics. Among past titles are “Taxi,” “Run Lola Run,” “The Straight Story,” “Mulholland Drive,” “Infernal Affairs,” “Riding Giants” and “Inside Deep Throat.”  Hong Kong helmer Jacob Cheung’s period actioner “A Battle of Wits” will bow next year.
