Chou scores ‘Slam’

Taiwanese pop superstar Jay Chou will star in Chinese basketball pic “Slam Dunk,” a co-production of Taiwan’s Chang-Hong Channel Film & Video Co. and China’s Shanghai Film Group.

The $10 million project, announced at a news conference in Shanghai on Wednesday, will start shooting in May, with a release planned in time for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Helmer is Kevin Chu Yin-Ping.

Chou is also featured in Zhang Yimou’s latest project, “Curse of the Golden Armor.”
