Carley crosses over to AIM

Marketing org aims to pump up moviegoing in U.K.

LONDON — Grace Carley has been appointed managing director of All Industry Marketing, an agency that promotes cinemagoing in the U.K.

Carley began her career as director of marketing for the Irish Film Board, and subsequently ran international film sales company, Stranger Than Fiction.

She sold the company to Knatchbull Communications in 2000 and joined the Department for Culture, Media and Sport in the U.K., where she held a number of senior positions, including, most recently, head of arts funding.

“I am convinced that there are significant segments of the population that can be developed into more regular cinemagoers,” said Carley, “and that there are major issues to be addressed, particularly piracy and the threats and opportunities presented by new technologies.”

Carley started in her new role on Nov. 6, replacing acting AIM topper Eddie Kane.

AIM’s membership includes the Film Distributors’ Association, the Cinema Exhibitors’ Association, the Cinema Advertisers’ Association and the U.K. Film Council. The agency is sponsored by telecommunications giant Orange.
