Cabler ImaginAsian goes ‘Green’ with distrib arm

New theatrical division picks up 'Green Chair' for 2006 release

Best known as a cable channel, Gotham-based ImaginAsian Entertainment has made its first all-rights acquisition and will launch into theatrical and home entertainment distribution.

New theatrical division ImaginAsian Pics picked up erotic thriller “Green Chair” from Korea’s Mirovision. Based on real events about the illicit affair between a 32-year-old woman and an underage boy, “Chair” was helmed by incendiary director Park Cheol-su. It preemed in Sundance last year.

ImaginAsian Pictures will release “Chair” in theaters in the first half of this year. Newly hatched ImaginAsian HomeVideo will handle the video release.

New divisions complete the group’s vertical integration. Operations already span ImaginAsian TV, New York’s the ImaginAsian Theater, and ImaginAsian Radio.
