Bollywood’s glitterati will descend on Dubai June 16 for the Intl. Indian Film Academy awards, organizers said Wednesday.
The extravaganza has been staged abroad since 2000 to raise Bollywood’s international profile — twice in South Africa and once each in Singapore, Malaysia, Britain and the Netherlands. “The IIFA awards have marked the beginning of a new era for recognizing and applauding the achievements of Indian cinema,” Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan told reporters in Mumbai at the official announcement.
