Berlinale invite surprises helmer

'Container' opening at fest

Swedish helmer Lukas Moodysson is surprised that his latest feature, “Container,” has been invited to the Berlin Film Festival, where it will be screened in the Panorama section.

“It’s so strange that I didn’t think anybody would want it,” he said.

“Container” is poetic, experimental and different, or — as Moodysson put it — “a black-and-white silent film with sound.” Principal shooting took place in Chernobyl, Transylvania and Sweden’s Trollhattan.

Produced by Memfis Film in two versions, one in Swedish and one in English, pic stars dancer Mariha Aberg and thesp Peter Lorentzon.

The Berlinale will screen the English-language version, in which Jena Malone does the English voice.

International sales are handled by Trust Film Sales.
