Thesp joins 'Charlie' cast

Amy Adams has enlisted in “Charlie Wilson’s War,” the Mike Nichols-directed adaptation of the George Crile book for Universal Pictures and Playtone. Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman are producing.

Adams, Oscar nominated for “Junebug,” joins Hanks, Julia Roberts and Philip Seymour Hoffman in the drama about a rogue congressman and CIA operative who conspired to arm Afghan rebels against invading Soviet forces.

Aaron Sorkin-scripted pic begins filming in Morocco in mid-October.

Adams will next be seen with Will Ferrell in “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby,” which opens Aug 4. She is currently shooting the Kevin Lima-directed “Enchanted” for Disney and is lending her voice to the Spyglass/Disney animated film “Underdog.”
