Director Wes Anderson has set Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody and Jason Schwartzman to star in “The Darjeeling Limited,” a comedy for Fox Searchlight.
Scott Rudin will produce with Anderson, Lydia Pilcher and Roman Coppola. Anderson, who wrote the script with Coppola and Schwartzman, will shoot the film entirely in India beginning in December.
Thesps will play brothers who take a spiritual trek through India following the death of their father.
Brody is working with Anderson for the first time. Wilson co-wrote with Anderson “Bottle Rocket,” “Rushmore” and “The Royal Tenenbaums” and is a regular in his ensembles. Schwartzman starred in “Rushmore.”
Pic will be the helmer’s first at Searchlight; he made his previous two at Disney. It’s the third recent film for Peter Rice’s division for Rudin, who produced with Anderson “The Royal Tenenbaums” and “The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou” and just completed at Searchlight the Kenneth Lonergan-directed “Margaret” and Richard Eyre’s “Notes on a Scandal.”
