Woody bids au revoir to Paris film

Helmer heads back to London

Woody Allen will have plenty to talk about in his next therapy session.

The helmer has suddenly scrapped plans to shoot a pic — in which David Krumholtz and Michelle Williams had recently been cast — in Paris this summer and returned to a previous concept of lensing a third film in London, following up on last year’s “Match Point” and the upcoming “Scoop.”

People close to Allen’s camp said the Paris film’s budget was escalating and the Blighty pic emerged as a more attractive option from a production standpoint.

London-based pic will be a completely different one from the Paris plan, with a different cast, but the producing team of Letty Aronson, Stephen Tenenbaum and Gareth Wiley will remain the same.

Allen’s latest London project will be backed by Virtual Films and French sales banner Wild Bunch — which had been behind the Paris pic — with Vincent Maraval, Benjamin Waisbren and Daniel Wuhrmann exec producing.

All of a sudden, Allen, who had been an exclusively Gotham filmmaker, has discovered the joys of overseas. Euro-trotting helmer has committed to shoot a pic next year in Barcelona, for Mediapro, using international and Spanish actors.

Plots on Allen’s pics are typically kept under very tight wraps. The abandoned Paris pic was said to be about Americans in Gaul.

Wild Bunch has repped such diverse fare as Luc Jacquet’s “March of the Penguins,” George Romero’s “Land of the Dead,” Michael Moore’s “Fahrenheit 9/11” and Hayao Miyazaki’s “Howl’s Moving Castle.”
