Whitaker set for SB kudo

Fest to honor 'Scotland' thesp

The 22nd annual Santa Barbara Intl. Film Festival will honor “The Last King of Scotland” star Forest Whitaker with the American Riviera Award, while Al Gore and director Davis Guggenheim will receive the Attenborough Award for excellence in nature filmmaking for their global warming docu “An Inconvenient Truth.”

Fest, which runs Jan. 25-Feb. 4, also will honor Will Smith with the Modern Master Award, as previously announced.

Past recipients of the American Riviera Award include Philip Seymour Hoffman, Diane Lane and Kevin Bacon, while the Attenborough Award has been presented to James Cameron and its namesake, David Attenborough.
