Elvis Costello and Allen Toussaint will lead a lineup of high-profile musicians playing this year’s expanded Tribeca/ASCAP Music Lounge at the Tribeca Film Festival May 2 -5.
Also on tap to perform are James Blood Ulmer, Brazilian Girls, Patty Griffin, Nellie McKay and John Mayer.
“The growth of this year’s music lounge is a testament to music’s place at Tribeca,” said Tribeca fest prexy Jennifer Maguire Isham.
The singer-songwriters lined up all contribute to film.
Costello and Toussaint will be on hand to showcase tunes from their collaboration “River in Reverse,” the upcoming album the duo recorded in New Orleans just three months after Hurricane Katrina devastated the city.
Project includes fresh numbers as well as covers of R&B man Toussaint’s classics.
Tribeca is also screening a short docu, in competition, on the making of the “River” CD. Helmed by Matthew Buzzell, “Putting the River in Reverse” looks behind the scenes of the landmark recording.
Music Lounge will be located in Tribeca’s Canal Room.
