NEW YORK — “Shadowboxer” — the directorial debut from “Monster’s Ball” and “The Woodsman” producer Lee Daniels — has been picked up for domestic distribution by indie label Teton Films.
Distrib will roll out the pic July 21 in association with Freestyle Releasing.
Noir film follows trained assassins, played by Cuba Gooding Jr. and Helen Mirren, on the run with a pregnant target after the killers have a change of heart.
Vanessa Ferlito, Macy Gray, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Mo’Nique and Stephen Dorff round out the cast.
Pic, which played the Toronto Film Fest last year, is the first to be released via Teton, headed by CEO Brook J. Lenfest, who was an exec producer on “Woodsman.”
Codeblack Entertainment is handling homevid rights.
