Par Classics digs ‘Dog’

Studio sees future in Black, White

As part of the effort to build a new identity for Paramount Classics, scribe Mike White has been hired to direct his first feature, “Year of the Dog.” Jack Black, White’s producing partner, is expected to be involved. White will pen the dramedy, about a happy-go-lucky secretary whose life changes in unexpected ways after her dog dies.
