‘Mirror’ shining on helmer

Aja signs up for horror thriller

“The Hills Have Eyes” director Alex Aja has committed to next direct “Into the Mirror,” a horror thriller to be fully financed by New Regency.

Pic will be produced by Marc Sternberg, Alexandra Milchan, Aja and his partner Gregory Levesseur. Shooting will begin in the fall.

Aja and Levesseur will rework a script by Jim Uhls and Joe Gangemi that just got a polish by Kieran and Michelle Mulroney.

After “Hills” became a hit, Aja had a slew of offers for his next genre outing and chose a film that revolves around mirrors.

The script “had a completely new concept with terror elements that anyone can relate to,” Aja said. “The idea is that the worst aspects of a human being begin the first time he looks at himself in a mirror.”
