Kaurismaki docu lines up for North American release
STOCKHOLM — Milan Records has acquired North American rights for Finnish helmer Mika Kaurismaki’s musical documentary “Brasileirinho.”
Milan, which will distribute the film as well as its soundtrack, also released Kaurismaki’s earlier film about Brazil, “Sound of Brazil.”
“Brasileirinho,” already sold to 30 countries by Wide Management, is a tribute to choro, the musical style that forms the foundation of all Brazilian composition, including samba and bossa nova. Produced by Finnish Marianna Films, pic is currently screening in Finland, Switzerland and Germany.
Wide Management sold helmer’s 2004 pic “Honey Baby” to several countries, including Germany, Spain, France, Greece and Austria.
