Malkovich wears Cologne for ‘Klimt’

World Brief

John Malkovich will be at the Intl. Film Congress in Cologne for the premiere of “Klimt,” alongside helmer Raoul Ruiz and thesps Veronica Ferres and Nikolai Kinski.

Seven-day event is spotlighting documentaries in the wake of local surprise success “Into Great Silence.” Philip Groening’s pic has been licensed to the U.K., Canada and Australia and will next run at the San Francisco Film Festival.

The congress also includes panels on social responsibility in film and on festival strategies for filmmakers.

The retrospective is dedicated to helmer Michael Haneke.

The regular co-production has been cancelled due to an overlap with the Cannes Film Festival.
