Thomas Langmann, producer and co-director of upcoming big-budget feature “Asterix at the Olympic Games,” is setting up an international sales operation to handle films produced by his shingle, La Petite Reine.
A head of international sales will be named shortly, Langmann said Tuesday.
Various agents handle foreign distribution on Langmann’s films. The “Asterix” pic, third episode in the hit franchise, is being sold by backer Pathe, which also is theatrically distributing in Gaul.
The new entity will market a slate of ambitious films, including Langmann’s two-parter “Mesrine,” starring Vincent Cassel and helmed by Jean-Francois Richet, and Florent Siri’s upcoming “AKA,” about Gallic confidence trickster Christophe Rocancourt. English-language script for latter is being penned by Doug Richardson, who wrote “Hostage,” Siri’s first English-language pic.
“We have 12 projects in development, and the idea behind handling international sales is to have greater control over them,” Langmann told Daily Variety.
