Christine Lahti has made a deal to direct “Any Way You Want Me,” a drama with comic elements that will be financed by Endgame’s James Stern. Stern will produce with Jay Cohen and Julia Eisenman will exec produce.
Lahti also has been set to join Dennis Quaid and Sarah Jessica Parker in “Smart People,” the Noam Murro-directed independent drama that begins shooting next week in Pittsburgh. Lahti has been balancing this gig with a multiepisode stint on NBC series “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip,” produced and directed by her husband, Thomas Schlamme. She has appeared in two episodes and will appear in another two.
Lahti, who won an Oscar for her short film “Lieberman in Love,” made her directing debut with the Albert Brooks starrer “My First Mister.”
Scripted by Marjorie Salvaterra, “Any Way” is about the tenuous relationship between a mother and daughter. Pic is based on the Kathryn Stern novel “Another Song About the King,” which Endgame acquired and developed.
