Penn to topline, Nathan to helm comedy
After wrapping “National Lampoon’s Van Wilder 2: The Rise of Taj,” Bauer Martinez will put star Kal Penn and director Mort Nathan right back to work in the comedy “Under New Management.”
Philippe Martinez will produce for Bauer Martinez Studio’s Lucky 50 Prods.
Penn, who will exec produce “Under New Management,” will play one of two guys who send their boss on a sex cruise and turn the office into the hottest party in town. Profits soar and the hapless duo triumph over stodgy corporate America.
Todd Cohen, Nate Ford and Ryan Jordan wrote the script.
Penn, who starred in “Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle,” headlines “Van Wilder 2,” which MGM will release on Dec. 1. Thesp, who’s been added to the cast of Fox’s “24,” will next be seen in “The Namesake” and “Bob Bailey’s Disco Ball.” He’s also in talks for the sequel “Harold and Kumar Go to Amsterdam.”
Nathan last directed “Boat Trip,” which he co-wrote.
