Walden Media and New Line have moved closer to launching production on “Journey 3-D,” casting Josh Hutcherson (“RV”) opposite Brendan Fraser.
Hutcherson will portray the nephew of a geologist who stumbles upon a mystery while on an expedition, bringing them face to face with never-before-seen worlds and creatures beneath the earth’s surface. Shooting’s scheduled to start next month in Montreal.
“Journey 3-D” is an update on Jules Verne’s “Journey to the Center of the Earth” with visual effects vet Eric Brevig making his feature directorial debut. D.V. DeVincentis has written the script, Charlotte Huggins is producing and Fraser’s exec producing.
Hutcherson’s also toplining Disney/Walden’s “Bridge to Terabithia” and Regency’s “Firehouse Dog.”
