PUSAN — Korea’s iHQ has pre-sold two titles to southeast Asian buyers.
Thriller “Thursday’s Child,” starring actress Kim Suna in her first role since the popular TV drama “My Lovely Samsoon,” was picked up by Hwa Yea for Malaysia and Brunei, and for Indonesia by Queens Film. Queens also bought “Gangster High,” which preemed at the Pusan Intl. Film Festival, and last year’s “Shadowless Sword.”
Meanwhile, the steamy “A Day for an Affair,” starring actresses Kim Hye-soo and Yun Jin-seo, was pre-sold to Thailand’s J-BICS.
In dollar terms, Thailand has emerged as the second-biggest overseas market for Korean films, albeit a huge dropoff from Japan at No. 1.
