High note for music vet

Blangsted to receive MPSE career achievement award

Music editor Else Blangsted will receive the Motion Picture Sound Editors’ career achievement award, to be presented by Dave Grusin at the Golden Reel Awards March 4 at the Beverly Hilton.

Blangsted is the first music editor to be honored with this award. Her credits include “The Great Santini,” “Ordinary People,” “Absence of Malice,” “On Golden Pond,” “Tootsie,” “The Color Purple,” “Children of a Lesser God” and “The Milagro Beanfield War.”

In addition to Grusin, she’s worked with composers Elmer Bernstein, Quincy Jones, Henry Mancini, Johnny Mandel and Patrick Williams and directors Steven Spielberg, Sydney Pollack, Mark Rydell, Robert Redford, Martin Ritt, Stanley Kramer, Jack Nicholson, Norman Jewison and Carl Reiner.
