Bullock to star in Barker-penned laffer
Fox 2000 has purchased the Kim Barker comedy spec script “All About Steve” as a starring vehicle for Sandra Bullock.
Thesp will produce through her Fortis Films banner.
In the broad comedy, a TV news cameraman is stalked across the country by a brilliant but eccentric crossword-puzzler.
Exec producers are Nicholas Osborne and Trevor Engelson of Underground Films. Barker, whose script was bought by Fox 2000 prexy Elizabeth Gabler, will do a quick rewrite with the aim of getting the pic into production next year.
Barker most recently wrote “License to Wed,” the Ken Kwapis-directed comedy that just wrapped at Warner Bros., with Robin Williams, Mandy Moore and John Krasinski starring.
Bullock has produced “Miss Congeniality” and its sequel, “Two Weeks Notice” and “Hope Floats.” She is an exec producer of the ABC sitcom “George Lopez.” Bullock, who plays Harper Lee in the Truman Capote pic “Infamous,” just wrapped the Mennan Yapo-directed thriller “Premonition” for Sony.
Bullock and Barker are repped by CAA, and Barker’s managed by Underground Films & Management.
