Focus moves on ‘Cougars’

'Worms' co-scripter Nussbaum attached to direct

Focus Features has put the bite on “Cougars,” snapping up Erik Lindsay’s romantic comedy spec and signing Joe Nussbaum to direct at its Rogue Pictures division.

Story revolves around a group of young men who — fed up with dating women their own age — discover the pleasures of dating older women.

Lindsay and Nussbaum teamed on “American Pie 5: The Naked Mile” as writer and director, respectively.

Earlier this year, Warner purchased Nussbaum’s spec comedy “Brad Cutter Ruined My Life…Again” for Donald De Line to produce. Nussbaum co-wrote “How to Eat Fried Worms,” a co-production of Imagine Entertainment, New Line and Walden Media.

Nussbaum is repped by Endeavor and Lindsay’s repped by UTA and BenderSpink.
