The 2006 AFI Fest will close with the world preem of writer-director Zhang Yimou’s “Curse of the Golden Flower.”
Pic, which stars Chow Yun Fat and Gong Li, recently was selected as China’s entry for this year’s foreign-language Oscar.
Preem will be held at ArcLight’s Cinerama Dome, followed by a gala event at AFI Fest’s Rooftop Village.
As previously announced, the fest’s opening film will be the U.S. debut of Emilio Estevez’s “Bobby.” Other gala premieres include “Volver,” “Inland Empire” and “The Fountain.”
AFI also has named its International Competition jury. Members include Wilmer Valderrama, Daryl Hannah, Christine Lahti, Susan Petersen, Lisa Gay Hamilton, Vondie Curtis Hall, Wash Westmoreland, Don Roos and film critic John Anderson.
The jury and audience awards will be announced at the Filmmaker Awards Presentation, where more than $70,000 worth of prizes will be awarded.
Fest, which runs Nov. 1-12 and is presented by Audi, is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
