First Look at ‘Dead Girl’

Pic to preem at AFI Fest

Partnering with Lakeshore Entertainment, Henry Winterstern’s First Look Pictures will distribute writer-director Karen Moncrieff’s ensemble pic “The Dead Girl,” which world preems Nov. 7 at the AFI Fest.

Film, which stars Toni Collette, Marcia Gay Harden, James Franco and Mary Beth Hurt, will be released domestically in January. Cast also includes Giovanni Ribisi, Josh Brolin, Kerry Washington and Brittany Murphy.

Lakeshore and First Look produced with Pitbull Pictures. First Look has North American rights for all media; Lakeshore has overseas rights. Project was developed by First Look, with Lakeshore signing on as financier and producer.

Psychological mystery sports five interlocking stories about seemingly unrelated characters whose lives converge around the death of a young woman.

First Look’s upcoming release slate also includes “Smiley Face” and “An American Crime.” In theaters now is “A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints.”

Lakeshore has three pics in theaters, including “Crank” and “The Last Kiss.” Upcoming slate includes “Blood and Chocolate.”
