Fantasy is in works

'Krabat' is first pic to shoot under Fox output deal

Teuton producer Claussen+Woebke has started shooting the first film under its five-picture deal with 20th Century Fox Germany, Marco Kreuzpaintner’s $10 million children’s fantasy “Krabat.”

German-language pic stars Daniel Bruhl (“Good Bye, Lenin!”). Production is under way in Romania with Castel Film as production service provider.

Fox holds Teuton rights but is in discussion with Claussen + Woebke over international distribution rights.

Its output deal with the Munich-based production outfit spans three years. Three other German-language pics to be produced under the deal have already been announced: “13 Semester,” helmed by Frieder Wittich; “Stellungswechsel,” helmed by scribe Maggie Peren (“Napola”); and “Maria, ihm schmeckt’s nicht,” based on the bestseller by Jan Weiler.
