Egoli Tossell plots Knef biopic

'Sophie Scholl' scribe-producer partners on project

CANNES — Egoli Tossell Film is teaming with Fred Breinersdorfer, producer and scribe of historical drama “Sophi Scholl — the Final Days,” and actress Heike Makatsch (“Almost Heaven”) on a biopic about the late German star Hildegard Knef.

Based on Knef’s autobiography “The Gift Horse,” the film will chronicle her life as one of Germany’s biggest post-war stars.

Makatsch will play Knef, who also starred in Hollywood films including “The Snows of Kilimanjaro” with Gregory Peck.

Egoli Tossell’s Jens Meurer and Judy Tossell will produce the Euros 8 million ($10.2 million) film from a script by Breindersdorfer.
