‘Divorcees’ wedded at U

Bailey to produce via LivePlanet

Universal has optioned Jesse Wigutow and John Maggio’s script “The Divorcees,” which Sean Bailey will produce via his LivePlanet banner.

Laffer concerns two middle-aged guys who get dumped after many years of marriage and find themselves back in the bachelor scene.

Wigutow previously penned MGM’s “It Runs in the Family,” starring Michael and Kirk Douglas. His other scripts include drug company thriller “Big Pharma” for Imagine and Universal and an adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “Tender Is the Night” for 20th Century Fox.

“Divorcees” is the first script sale for Maggio, a nine-year veteran of Wall Street who quit the financial biz to pursue screenwriting and standup comedy. Bailey previously produced “Matchstick Men” for Warner Bros. and “The Core” for Paramount.
