Deal is companies' most comprehensive pact to date
The Mouse House has inked a multiyear, multigenre agreement with Turkish broadcaster TRT for a package of animation and live-action movies as well as kidvid.
The deal is the two companies’ most comprehensive agreement to date and was unveiled Thursday in Istanbul by the pubcaster. No pricetag was available.
Among the product included are Pixar’s “Toy Story,” “Finding Nemo” and “A Bug’s Life” as well as Disney’s “Pocahontas” and “Brother Bear.” Classic movies include “Mary Poppins,” “Dumbo” and “Alice in Wonderland.”
In addition, the Playhouse Disney preschool series “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” and “Little Einsteins” will receive their Turkish TV premiere.
“We are committed to working with broadcasters in key developing markets such as Turkey to help drive schedules, and increase our market presence,” said Tom Toumazis, exec VP and managing director for Disney’s foreign TV arm in Europe and the Mideast.
