Winona Ryder has been cast as the female lead opposite Simon Baker in “Sex and Death 101,” which Daniel Waters is directing for Cary Brokaw’s Avenue Pictures and Sandbar Pictures.
Dark comedy concerns a man whose life is upended by an email containing the names of every woman he’s had sex with — and every woman he ever will have sex with. Waters wrote Ryder’s character with the thesp in mind, having worked with her on “Heathers.”
Julie Bowen and Dash Mihok have also landed roles in the pic, which is in its second week of production.
Brokaw is producing the pic with Sandbar principals Lizzie Friedman and Greg Little. Avenue exec VP Aaron Craig Geller exec produces.
Ryder next stars in Warner Independent’s “A Scanner Darkly,” directed and written by Richard Linklater.
