CANNES — Arclight Films’ genre arm Darclight has inked a deal to rep world rights to Daniel Myrick’s upcoming supernatural horror pic “The Objective.”
Pic follows a special ops team carrying out a mission in Afghanistan that finds itself lost in a Bermuda Triangle-type vortex of ancient evil.
Writer-helmer Myrick was a co-helmer of the horror hit “The Blair Witch Project.” He recently wrapped his latest pic, “Solstice,” for Endgame Entertainment.
Darclight will co-finance “Objective” with JAZ Films’ Jeremy Wall and Zev Guber. Wall and Guber will produce the pic, which is skedded to go into production in September.
“(Myrick’s) approach to filmmaking is truly unique and we look forward to a long-term relationship with him and (JAZ),” said Hamilton.
Darclight’s credits include “Wolf Creek,” as well as Fox’s upcoming “Perfect Capture” and “Trapped Ashes,” which is screening in Cannes.
JAZ’s slate includes the Tupac Shakur-penned “Live 2 Tell” and the hip hop comedy “Racoonz.”
