Rachael Leigh Cook is batting for baseball drama “The Final Season,” joining a cast led by Sean Astin and Powers Boothe.
State of Mind Films and Fobia Films are producing. David Mickey Evans (“Sandlot”) directs from a script by Art D’Alessandro.
Based on true events, story revolves around the coach who led the high school baseball team in Norway, Iowa, to win 19 state championships in 23 years. Cook will play the love interest.
Producers are State of Mind Films’ Herschel Weingrod and Parker Widemire and Fobia’s Michael Wasserman and Carl Borack.
Cook stars in the upcoming “My First Wedding,” as well as Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Nancy Drew.”
