‘Backstage’ pass

News Brief

Marking the first acquisitions pact at the Tribeca Film Festival, Los Angeles-based indie banner Strand Releasing said Thursday evening that it had picked up all U.S. rights to Emmanuelle Bercot’s French-language pic “Backstage.”

Pic had its U.S. premiere at Tribeca on Wednesday. It’s also screening in the San Francisco and Seattle fests.

Pic stars Emmanuelle Seigner as a pop idol whose life is turned upside down when a young, obsessed fan played by Islid Le Besco invades her life.

Strand picked up rights from French sales banner Wild Bunch.

Pic was produced by Haut et Court’s Caroline Benjo and Carole Scotta.
